Amazon has teamed up with BT Sport to offer UK pubs access to 20 Premier league games this season at a significatnt discount to the amount sky sports charges.
The American internet giant acquired the rights for two entire 10-game ‘rounds’ of Premier League football in last year’s auction for the 2019-22 seasons, and last month confirmed that it will show 10 games over three nights in the first week of December and the 10 ‘Boxing Day’ games on December 26 and 27.
Having already confirmed that fans will be able to stream these games at home or on their mobile devices with an Amazon Prime Video subscription of £7.99 a month – or an annual payment of £79 – the company is now ready to announce its plan for pubs.
It is understood that they will be offered an ‘Amazon Premier League pass’ for between £100 and £600, depending on the pub’s size and turnover.
