(uk) Leading trade bodies join campaign to reduce VAT
Posted on 15th, Apr 2016
ALMR and BBPA have joined forces to fight to reduce the amount of VAT paid by pubs and highlighting the huge Tax burden they face.
Pubs pay a third of their turnover in taxes and regulatory costs and supermarkets pay around a fifth, this gives Supermarkets an unfair advantage
Supermarkets pay 0% VAT on most foods and Pubs pay 20%, the Government has not reduced VAT in the sector and needs to step up to give pubs a life line. Supermarkets can sell alcohol cheaper than we can buy it for and British pubs are expected to somehow compete!
The Government needs to finally step up and help us out before its too late!
